A civic issue platform designed around Mumbai.
CivicMap is an academic project concept for connecting citizens, geographic issue reports and responsible civic/government bodies in one transparent workflow.
People see issues but often do not know where to send them.
Potholes, garbage, drainage, streetlights and other infrastructure problems can be difficult to report and follow up. CivicMap provides a location-first reporting flow.
Report → Route → Track → Resolve → Verify
A citizen selects the exact location, adds evidence and tags a responsible body. Authorities can then receive, update and resolve the complaint.
Discussion without confusing it with formal reporting.
The separate Community page lets residents talk about local problems and respond to each other. Formal reports remain in the official complaint workflow.
OpenStreetMap + Leaflet + web application
The prototype uses OpenStreetMap map tiles with Leaflet. A production version can connect the frontend to FastAPI, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, secure photo storage, authentication and AI services.
Configurable, not hard-coded.
The final system should maintain an administrator-managed table connecting Mumbai areas/wards, issue categories and responsible departments using official jurisdiction information.
Built as a final-year project prototype.
The current version demonstrates the user experience. Production deployment would require real authentication, a backend database, official authority integrations where available, moderation, privacy controls and robust geospatial data.
